Glass is one of the most commonly used materials for food and beverage packaging as the nonporous and impermeable material does not affect the taste, smell, or quality of the contents inside. Glass is made out of a mixture of sand, soda ash, limestone, and recycled glass, and the end product can be recycled endlessly without losing quality or purity. If fact, recycled glass can be substituted for 95% of raw materials! Recycling glass not only saves natural resources, but also vast amounts of energy. In 2013, 34% of glass products were recycled, which is equivalent to 210,000 cars taken off the road!
